LTC offering electrical seminar

CLEVELAND, WI

Lakeshore Technical College is offering an Electrical Safety and Arc Flash Hazard seminar at the Cleveland campus on April 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

Participants will learn about the safety hazards involved in working with or near electricity. The basics of electricity, electrical terms and methods to ensure proper operation of electrical equipment will be reviewed.

Other topics will include voltage, current, resistance and power; conductors and insulators; direct and alternating currents; and single-phase and three-phase power.

Participants also will learn about new industry standards that establish safe practices to protect electrical workers from the hazards of shock, electrocution, arc flash and arc blast and how to apply these standards and practices in the workplace.

The seminar is approved for commercial electrical inspectors, journeyman electricians, master electricians and UDC-electrical inspectors and qualifies for 4 hours of continuing education credit by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.

LTC Industrial Electrician Apprentice Instructor Jenny Heinzen will be the seminar presenter, and the class will be held in the Wisconsin Training Room in the Lakeshore Building. The class number is 28241, and the fee is $65.
