LTC students graduate from Farm Business and Production Management program

Ten students recently graduated from the Lakeshore Technical College Farm Business and Production Management program. The students were recognized at LTC’s Farm Business/Dairy Herd Management Appreciation Banquet at Millhome Supper Club in Kiel.  

LTC Vice President of Instruction Tom Hilke and Wisconsin Technical College System Educational Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dr. James Gibson conferred the diplomas.

Dairy Herd Management Student JeriLynn Zutz, Valders, received the Hoard’s Dairyman Award. The award is given to an outstanding student whom classmates deem will be the most beneficial asset to the dairy industry. The award recognizes Zutz for exemplifying good character, high academic achievement and community mindedness.

Farm Business and Production Management graduates and their Wisconsin hometowns include:

The Farm Business and Production Management program provides continuing education to individuals in the business of farming, including farm operators, farm operations staff and other agribusiness professionals.

The five-year program meets at eight locations in a five-county area and addresses such topics as business analysis, livestock management and nutrition, employee/employer relations, credit/marketing/purchasing and crop/soil management.

The Dairy Herd Management program teaches students how to run successful operations built on solid herdsperson skills, effective management skills and use of technology. Students learn skills and gain knowledge through classroom instruction, laboratory training and on-farm experience.

The one-year program prepares students for careers as dairy herd managers, farm owners and Dairy Herd Improvement Association supervisors.
